How to pick the right sneaker size (EU size guide)

    By sneakersInn team · Updated

To find your sneaker size, measure your foot from heel to longest toe in centimetres in the evening, then use the table below to find your EU size. If you know your UK or US size, convert it with the same table. When you're between sizes, go up half a size, and ask us on WhatsApp how a particular pair fits.

Sizes vary slightly between makers, so treat this as a typical guide, not an exact rule. Each product page in our shop lists the EU sizes for that pair.

How do I measure my foot at home?

    1. Measure in the evening. Feet swell during the day, especially in heat.
    2. Wear the socks you'll wear with the sneakers.
    3. Stand on a sheet of paper against a wall, heel touching the wall.
    4. Mark the tip of your longest toe (not always the big toe).
    5. Measure from the wall to the mark in centimetres.
    6. Do both feet and use the longer one.
    Foot length (cm)
Stand on paper with your heel against the wall, mark the tip of your longest toe, and measure from the wall to the mark in centimetres. Do it in the evening, with the socks you'll wear.

    Why add room?

Your foot needs space to move forward as you walk. A good sneaker leaves about 1 to 1.5 cm (roughly a thumb's width) between your longest toe and the front. Too tight and your toes hit the front; too loose and your heel slips.

    How do EU sizes work?

EU sizes are based on the Paris point, which is two-thirds of a centimetre. The EU number roughly equals the length of the shoe's inside (the last) in centimetres times 1.5 (shoe size on Wikipedia). That's why EU sizes go up in steps of about 6.7 mm, while UK and US sizes go up by a third of an inch (8.5 mm).

Should I size up or down?

    • Wide feet: often half a size up, or a style known to be roomy.
    • Narrow feet: true to size, laced firmly.
    • Thick socks: half a size up.
    • Between sizes: go up and use a thicker sock or insole if needed.

How should sneakers feel when I try them?

Snug across the widest part of your foot, no pressure on your toes, no heel slipping when you walk. Leather sneakers soften a little; mesh and knit uppers stretch less. If you're buying your first pair, start with white leather sneakers.

    Questions

Is my UK size the same as my US size?

No. For men, US is usually one size higher than UK: UK 8 is about US 9.

What if I'm not sure which size to order?

Send us your foot length or the size you wear in other sneakers on WhatsApp and we'll tell you honestly how the pair fits. Our size guidance page has more.

What if the size is wrong?

Returns are accepted for unworn items in their original packaging within 48 hours of delivery, after inspection. In Accra you can check the pair before paying on delivery. See the facts page, and once they fit, read how to make your sneakers last longer.
