How the converter works
EU sizes are counted in Paris points of two-thirds of a centimetre, while UK and US sizes step by a third of an inch, so the systems don't line up exactly. The converter rounds a foot length up to the next size, because a little room is more comfortable than too little, and rounds half UK and US sizes up to the nearest EU size on the chart.
How to measure your foot
- Measure in the evening, when feet are at their largest.
- Wear the socks you'll wear with the sneakers.
- Stand on paper with your heel against a wall and mark your longest toe.
- Measure from the wall to the mark, and use the longer foot.

Questions
How do I find my EU shoe size from my foot length?
Measure from your heel to your longest toe in centimetres, in the evening, then find the first size whose foot length is the same or longer. A 26 cm foot is EU 41; 26.5 cm is EU 42.
What EU size is a UK 8?
A men's UK 8 is about EU 42.5, and a US 9 is the same size. Makers vary by up to half a size, so check the size notes on each product.
Should I size up or down in sneakers?
Size up half a size if you are between sizes, have wide feet or wear thick socks. Stay true to size if your feet are narrow, and lace firmly.
Why is my size different between brands?
Each maker uses its own lasts (the foot-shaped moulds shoes are built on), so the same number can fit slightly differently. Use your foot length as the reliable measure.
